- Job Summary
- The Advanced Practice Provider is an advanced practice registered nurse or physician's assistant with education, training, certification, and licensure to provide care for a specified patient population. This individual will deliver the care for pediatric patients who are medically complex, which includes patients who are technologically dependent, require frequent or complex monitoring and ongoing inpatient management with acute, complex and/or chronic illnesses. While the primary role is clinical, additional components of the role will include professional development, education, and scholarship. This individual works in collaboration with the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Medical Director, attending physicians, pediatric residents and learners, the Division Directors of Nursing, staff nurses and other team members.
- Education
- MSN, DNP or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as a pediatric nurse practitioner
OR - Graduate of master's or doctoral level physician assistant program
- MSN, DNP or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as a pediatric nurse practitioner
- Experience
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
- Must be eligible to practice as a nurse practitioner as determined by the Alabama Board of Nursing or as a physician assistant as determined by the Alabama Board of Medicine
- Current RN Licensure in the State of Alabama for nurse practitioners
- Current BLS/PALS certification
- Valid Primary Care PNP or Acute Care PNP certification from appropriate certifying board or certification as PA-C from NCCPA
