Job Summary

Supervises clinic operations, typically spanning multiple providers, clinics and / or practices. Subordinates include staff involved with professional operational functions. Oversight of administrative areas such as practice revenue management, billing systems and procedures, facilities and safety procedures, registration, new patient coordination, scheduling, medical records storage and maintenance, and insurance authorizations. May also supervise patient support staff such as medical assistants or LVNs, in coordination with the nursing lead.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $74,300 - $113,500 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and minimum of five years of experience/ or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Minimum three years of lead/ supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirement and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinic / center administration.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience or education in Clinical Quality Improvement systems and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center operations.

OBIC Clinic is in the Division of Substance Use And Addiction Medicine (DSAAM), which is a part of the UCSF Department of Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The UCSF Department of Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) is dedicated to providing culturally competent services to the diverse patient population we serve. Providing a range of clinical services informed by evidence-based practices, the Department of Psychiatry provides care to thousands of patients each year. The Division of Substance Use And Addiction Medicine (DSAAM) provides multi-disciplinary consultation and treatment for patients with substance use disorders at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) and in the San Francisco Health Network.
