Position Overview:

The senior credit analyst, in a larger exposure underwriting role, has a critically important function to review and process transactions within their authority of $400k and present transactions for total exposures exceeding $400k to senior management across all verticals.

The incumbent accepts the responsibility for establishing and maintaining the internal control system associated with the essential duties and responsibilities of the functional areas that the incumbent manages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review applications for accuracy.
  • Call, fax or email for bank and credit references.
  • Communicate with "clients" (vendors, dealers, brokers, customers etc.) in a professional manner via phone or email.
  • Research industries, markets, and equipment as necessary.
  • Underwrite and decision transactions within credit authority to $400k.
  • Underwrite and present transactions that exceed $400k to senior management and credit committee.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


KPI's (Key Performance Indicators):
  • Obtain & analyze public and private information such as Dun & Bradstreet reports, Paynet reports, Secretary of State corporate name verifications, Safer reports, Credit Bureau reports etc.
  • Review and spread financials/tax returns to provide formative analysis regarding performance and trends. Familiarity with Moody's. Financial/Risk Analysis is important to assist with underwriting analysis.

  • Act independently; Decision-making within Company policy.
  • Interact with peers, via phone or email to support company initiatives.


Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises employees within the department.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting experience

Education and Experience:
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree with a major in finance or management or equivalent experience.

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer, copier, phone, and other typical office equipment


Working Hours:

  • Hours may vary and may require some evening work; frequently requires working 40-45 hours/week depending on business needs.


Travel:
  • Occasional travel related to attendance at industry seminars.
  • Travel, from time to time, to meet with clients.


Physical Demands:
  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.

The salary will be between $70,000.00 and $95,000.00 with an opportunity to earn (a discretionary annual bonus).

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
