Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: Relevant certifications for ICU nursing Must-Have: - Epic experience - Recent Trauma Level One Experience - 1.5 years of experience in 600+ bed academic hospital or 2 years of total experience (traveling and permanent) Job Description: - Provide specialized care to critically ill adult patients in the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) - Handle a patient population with a 50/50 split between neuro and surgical cases, including major elective and emergency surgical procedures - Manage multi-trauma, traumatic brain and spinal injuries, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean - Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, and treatment of laboratory values - Perform ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring - Utilize skills in ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, and Artic Sun therapy - Operate continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, and continuous renal replacement therapy - Monitor reconstructive flaps and manage massive blood transfusions - Support on-unit procedures, including the placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, SEPS drains, and more - Conduct bedside procedures like bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, abdominal washouts, and lumbar punctures Nurses in this role are expected to have competency with EVDs, bolts, ICP management, and experience with trauma and complex surgical patients.
