Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: Epic experience, Recent Trauma Level One Experience, 1.5 years of experience in a 600+ bed academic hospital or 2 years of total (traveling + permanent) experience Job Description: - Provide specialized care to critically ill adult patients, aged 14 and older, in the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Units.- Manage a patient population divided equally between neuro and surgical cases.- Deliver care to patients with conditions such as major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability, and difficulties in weaning from life support.- Perform comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, and treatments that include laboratory value assessment, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.- Utilize skills in ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output management, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion.- Support and execute on-unit procedures such as the placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, gastrostomy tube placements, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, among others.- Exhibit competency with EVDs, bolts, and ICP management, alongside experience with trauma and complex surgical patients.
