Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: State RN License Certifications: Competency test required within 48 hours Must-Have: - Recent Trauma Level One experience- Experience with 600+ bed academic hospitals or a combination of travel and permanent experience- Epic experience Job Description: - Provide specialized care to critically ill adults (14 and older) in the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit- Work with a patient population split between neuro and surgical cases- Manage cases related to major surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, and hemodynamic instability- Perform comprehensive physical assessments and intensive monitoring- Manage laboratory values, ventilator settings, and hemodynamic status- Required skill set includes: - ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt - Spinal drains/catheters - Brain oxygen monitoring - Artic Sun therapy - Continuous EEG - Intra-arterial catheter use - Non-invasive cardiac output - Mechanical ventilation - Continuous renal replacement therapy - Reconstructive flap monitoring - Massive blood transfusion- Support on-unit procedures such as arterial line placement, central lines, external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, and pigtail drains- Competency with EVDs, bolts, ICP management, and experience with trauma and complex surgical patients required.
