Job Summary:

The EHSS (Environmental, Health, Safety and Security) Manager plays a vital role in getting our food product to our customers. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to environmental, health, safety, and security, looks for improvement, and is ready to roll up their sleeves with us in a manufacturing start-up environment.

You will develop site-specific safety initiatives and lead corporate safety initiatives to ensure safe manufacturing processes. In a fast-paced environment like manufacturing, the EHSS manager is an integral part of the operation. You will work closely with the human resources, operations, quality, and maintenance departments to evaluate work processes and EHSS needs and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Responsible for leading the implementation of EHSS (environmental, health, safety, and security) policies and procedures in a production environment.
Recommends EHSS improvements in operational methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Leads and supports the EHSS efforts by partnering with various levels of leadership and support teams.
Has responsibilities for the mitigation and prevention of organizational risks which is accomplished through, training, developing, complying, investigating, evaluating, coordinating and correcting.
Follows and tracks all incidents or potential incidents through the EHSS systems to produce internal analysis and required regulatory reporting.
Coordinates post-accident communication to ensure effective workers compensation cases management.
Supports human resources with ADA and other HR-related compliance as needed.
This person must have a strong understanding and experience overseeing and coordinating environmental compliance at the site level, including PSM/RMP/CalARP.
Ensure the security of the premises through the use of technology and/or outside vendors.
Oversees all processes, procedures, and actions related to site safety, resources, and people within it.
This person must have strong computer skills with the ability to provide end-user support at times and perform data audits across multiple risk management computer systems to measure compliance and data integrity. In addition, it is preferred that this person have strong analytical skills with the ability to utilize Microsoft applications, such as Excel, with a basic knowledge of formulas and pivot tables.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
A bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or a similar degree is strongly preferred.
5 years' minimum experience in a CA food manufacturing facility managing safety and environmental compliance with examples of when they have demonstrated excellence in the workplace.
Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with agencies such as CalARP, EPA, and OSHA, as well as experience successfully implementing and managing EHS programs and policies in CA.
Minimum two years of HR experience in CA specifically managing workers compensation claims, ADA, and employee relations.
Must display a cohesive ability to apply interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
Demonstrated experience engaging individuals respectfully and collaboratively and exercise sound judgment.
Demonstrated ability to build a strong collaborative environment with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and governing agencies.
Advanced training or skills pertaining to environmental, health, safety, and security.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
May need to travel up to 50% of the time to the Pacific Northwest when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occassional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occassional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and/or crawling; and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 40% or more sitting, 40% or more walking, and 20% or more standing.
The job is performed under frequent temperature variations and in a food manufacturing warehouse environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. is required.
