Who are we looking for?
As a Data Engineer at Xifin, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our data estate to the next generation and driving our journey towards becoming a data-driven organization. You will be instrumental in developing and enhancing cloud-based data platforms that enable rapid decision-making and advanced analytical capabilities using AI and ML. This role involves architecting, designing, and executing data distribution frameworks, real-time data streaming, and batch processing.
You will work within a small, highly-skilled team to deliver innovative data solutions and uncover valuable insights across the organization. Your responsibilities will include developing, testing, and supporting data pipelines and transformations for complex healthcare and financial datasets.
You may be hired as a Senior or Staff Data Engineer based on your depth of skill and breadth of experience.
What will you do?
Data Platform Development: Architect, design, and implement cloud-based data platforms that support fast decision-making and advanced analytics, leveraging AI and ML technologies.
ETL/ELT Pipeline Management: Build, test, and maintain high-quality ETL or ELT data pipelines using Talend, Python, Java, SQL, and/or SAP Data Intelligence (DI). Ensure data pipelines are efficient and reliable.
Data Integration and Transformation: Integrate data from various sources, cleanse, standardize, and load it into OLTP systems and data warehouse targets.
Real-Time and Batch Processing: Develop and manage frameworks for real-time data streaming and batch processing. Deploy and evaluate vendor technologies for data replication, distribution, and streaming.
Architecture and Design: Design data engineering solutions with a cloud-native approach. Quickly understand the current data landscape and provide recommendations for refactoring or replatforming to future data products.
Data Protection Compliance: Adhere to Xifin's data protection requirements, including data access, retention, residency, and de-identification. Ensure compliance and security in data handling processes.
Data Catalog and Reporting: Develop and maintain a data and report catalog. Create data validation checks and scripts to ensure high data quality and availability.
Collaboration and Support: Partner with reporting, analytics, and machine learning teams to define requirements, conduct testing, and troubleshoot issues. Provide technical guidance and coaching to other team members.
Tool and Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks for high-volume data processing. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
Secure Software Development: Design and develop secure software solutions in collaboration with onshore and offshore engineering teams.
This is an onsite position at our office in San Diego.

What does the position pay:
Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.
The expected range for this role is $150,000.00-$180,000.00 annual compensation. Please note this range is an estimate and actual may vary based on qualifications and experience.

What education and experience do you need?
A combination of the following education and experience factors will be considered:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with extensive experience in developing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Talend, Python, SQL.
- Java, and/or SAP Data Intelligence (DI) a plus
- Extensive experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Azure experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of real-time data streaming and batch processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with data protection and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Talend, Python, SQL.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to identify and resolve issues in data pipelines and integrations.
- Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams, including reporting, analytics, and machine learning professionals.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
