The Physician Assistant (PA-C) is a licensed professional who will function independently, but provides care under the supervision of the physician. They will plan, implement and evaluate treatment in accordance with patient care standards and physician order, as applicable. They will act as a liaison between the physician, patient and family, and collaborate with other health care professionals as appropriate. They may assist in the orientation of new employees, and may participate in hospital or department committees. They must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups, according to specific chronological age, development age/or psycho-social maturity.
The PA-C must be knowledgeable and maintain competence in surgical anatomy and physiology, operative technique relative to surgical procedure and principals of asepsis and infection control. He/she must maintain clinical competence in post procedure assessment and follow-up, provide post-op and follow up notes in the EMR that are concise, accurate and allow for optimal characterization of all comorbid conditions and optimal reimbursement. Must conduct and document history and physical exams, admission orders, administration of injections and prescription of medications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate with at least an Associate Degree of Science in PA program from accredited program and be registered in the State of Ohio, Medical Board.
Required length and type of experience: One (1) year experience preferred as Physician Assistant; clinical skills required will be dictated by scope of services offered. Must have strong organizational skills and communication skills with the general public, in person and on the phone.
Required licensure, certification or registry: Physician Assistant - Certified; Registered with the State Medical Board of Ohio.
