POSITION SUMMARY
The SVP and Controller will be responsible for oversight of finance, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities, in collaboration with CFO. The position will oversee the day to day responsibilities of the Finance function, including hiring, evaluating, developing, and supervising Finance staff. The position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining sound financial procedures, processes, and controls to develop and manage a Finance function that serves the organization at a high level of excellence, with a customer service mindset.
The SVP and Controller will collaborate regularly with all departments, providing consistent, accurate, reliable, and timely financial information that will enable management to make informed and sound decisions in carrying out their fiscal responsibilities to the organization and its stakeholders. This position will deploy sound grant management and reporting capabilities to support both internal and external stakeholders, which will continue to build on NAACP's reputation as a responsible recipient of grants, sponsorships, and other external funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Guide and support process to develop annual budget and monthly financial reporting, including budget to actual comparisons;
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards, internal control best practices, donor/grant reporting, and tax/regulatory requirements;
- Lead and manage coordination and completion of annual audit for all entities;
- Consistently analyze financial data, highlighting and explaining significant variances, and present financial reports in a timely manner;
- Clearly communicate and summarize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to CFO, upper management, and governing bodies, as needed;
- Liaise with CFO in staffing and reporting to all Finance related Board committees;
- Practice continuous improvement strategies to improve efficiency, speed, and accuracy in providing financial information and service to all constituents;
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll, in collaboration with CFO;
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, corporate, payroll, and other taxes as may be applicable to each NAACP related entity;
- Manage the processes to file the annual IRS Form 990 for all entities in a timely manner to support state level charitable solicitation requirements;
- Work with NAACP Units compliance group to support filing of annual group IRS Form 990 return, and support implementation of best practices for Unit compliance;
- Design and maintain sound cash flow management and monitoring practices and procedures;
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the CFO
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; MBA/Masters and/or CPA preferred;
- 8+ years of related experience in financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and financial team management;
- Previous work experience in a complex, fast-paced organization with revenues of over $50 million;
- Non-profit accounting experience required;
- A track record of grant management as it relates to compliance and reporting of foundation and corporate grants;
- Keen analytic and problem solving skills;
- Excellent project management experience with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality, timely work product;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build effective partnerships within organizations;
- Ability to translate and communicate complex financial concepts to all levels of the organization;
- Supervisory experience with a successful track-record of effective and engaged team management;
- Experience with SAGE Intacct, Bill.com and/or ADP is preferred; and
- Advanced level of MS products, cloud-based accounting software preferred
