Job Summary
VSolvit is seeking a Software Engineer with a basic understanding of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Agile process improvement to join our team at Naval Air Station (NAS) Point Mugu in Southern California. The successful candidate will work in this beautiful coastal location between Malibu and Santa Barbara at Naval Base Ventura County, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), supporting Agile projects across multiple areas: Airborne Electronic Attack, Electronic Warfare Integrated Laboratories, or Multi-Spectral defense.
*** This position is 100% on-site at NAS Point Mugu, CA ***
The Software Engineer will research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze users' needs and then design and develop software or processes to meet those needs, applying Agile principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Recommend software upgrades for customers' existing programs and systems.
The Software Engineer will design each piece of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together. Create a variety of models and diagrams showing programmers the software code needed for an application. Ensure that a program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing. Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades. May work with systems or hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements. May maintain databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

Responsibilities
- Work with teams doing Agile research, design, development, and testing with EW electronic equipment, components, and systems for military or scientific use
- Write, modify, and test code and scripts that allow computer software and applications to function properly
- Write programs in a variety of computer languages, such as C++ and Java
- Generate and/or modify test plans and procedures for these products and systems
- Verify viability of testing results and investigate problems identified from testing results to find possible root causes
- Hands-on problem-solving skills
- Document accurate and concise status reports and findings
- Test programs for errors and fix the faulty lines of computer code
- Create, modify, and test code or scripts in software that simplifies development
- Study an organization's current computer systems and design ways to improve efficiency
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- United States Citizenship required
- Excellent analytical skills, business acumen, time-management, and effective communication abilities
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science or a related field
- Develop, create, and test website or interface layout, functions, and navigation for usability
- Secret clearance
- Effective communications with team members, end users, analysts, contractors and customer personnel in a diverse team setting
- Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), DevSecOps (Development, Security, and Operations), or MBSE (model Based Systems Engineering) methodologies
