Job Summary

The Director-PMO is a senior-level position that takes ownership and is accountable for creating, organizing, and implementing the strategies and business processes in an organization with the responsibility for making sure that projects are completed on time and within budget. The PMO Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Project Management Office, ensuring the successful execution of projects from initiation to completion.

This position requires a seasoned project management professional with a proven track record of leadership and expertise in telecommunications or related industries. The PMO Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project management software, project management standards, processes, and tools, while also providing guidance, training, and support to project managers and teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, strategic vision, and a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

Establish and Maintain PMO Standards: Develop, implement, and maintain standardized project management processes, methodologies, and tools across the organization.

Project Planning and Monitoring: Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.

Resource Management: Coordinate resource allocation across projects, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines and objectives.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Generate regular reports on project performance, including key metrics such as project status, budget variance, schedule adherence, and resource utilization. Present reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Risk Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize project risks. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize potential impacts on project delivery.

Quality Assurance: Establish quality standards and processes to ensure that projects meet customer requirements and industry standards. Conduct regular quality audits, customer satisfaction surveys, and reviews to identify areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to continuously improve project management practices and processes. Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and efficiency gains to enhance overall project delivery capabilities.

Training and Development: Provide training and support to project managers and team members on project management methodologies, tools, and best practices. Develop program for Project Management staff to obtain Project Management certifications.

Budget Management: Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to develop project budgets, track expenses, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines and constraints. Ensure project financial data is reported in an accurate and timely manner.

Vendor Management: Effectively partner with vendors on driving performance, customization, and excellence.

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) required.

Proven experience (10+ years) in project management, with a focus on telecommunications or construction projects.

Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, etc.).

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure.

Experience in managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Knowledge of telecommunications industry regulations and standards is a plus.
