SUMMARY
Join Hastings Fiber Glass Products, a family-owned and operated company with a global presence! For 65 years, we have proudly made the best quality hot line tools and equipment in the utility industry to keep the lights on and lineworkers safe. We are looking for an experienced high voltage electrical engineer to join our team and provide professional technical assistance as part of a cross-functional team in the design, manufacture, and testing of hot line products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work on site in Hastings, Michigan (not a remote position) Assist with product design cycle (concept, prototyping, layout, beta testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and release) for new and modified products for use in utility industry Learn and understand operation and technical details of Hastings Fiber Glass products Research and cross-reference electrical components Assist in the investigation and analysis of new materials and engineering practices Design and conduct tests of completed equipment and components under operational conditions to investigate product performance, to obtain data for standardization, and quality control Assist with mechanical design, prototype building, and prototype testing Promptly and thoroughly respond to customers' technical questions involving the particulars of electrical power and use of Hastings Fiber Glass products Occasional domestic and international travel to visit customers and assist with testing Maintain accurate engineering documentation Comply with and adhere to all applicable ISO standards

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work frequently at computer in office setting
- Work for periods of time in factory setting (non-air conditioned); walking and standing
- See details of objects that are less than and more than a few feet away
- See differences between colors, shades, and brightness
- Use fingers and one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects with precision
- Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
- Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls
- Determine the distance between objects
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Substantive professional experience with high voltage power/utility industry applications, particularly transmission lines
- Superior technical skills and understanding of the principles of electrical power, including but not limited to grounding power lines
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software and experience with Mastercam software helpful
- Experience with engineering change notices (ECNs)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical writing skills
- Ability to collaborate with others in team-based environments
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage workflow
- Versatility and flexibility; exceptionally detail-oriented
- Membership in professional organizations (IEEE, ASTM, IEC) preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
