Summary:
The Director of Accreditation and Assessment in the College of Education Humanities and Behavioral Sciences, will work directly with the Dean to prioritize and implement the ongoing development, implementation, analysis, and maintenance of Assessment/Quality Assurance systems that provide data which facilitate continuous improvement and accreditation requirements.
Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working cooperatively with accredited programs and specifically the educator preparation programs and affiliated departments to develop, monitor, and maintain a system of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinating the collection and analysis of data for accreditation and program improvement purposes.
  • Effectively communicating with commercial vendors to enable generation of unit- and program-level data and reports.
  • Coordinating the development and maintenance of databases to support tracking and data collection from all aspects of the academic programs in the college.
  • Monitoring data collection from programs and courses, field experiences/internships, graduates/alumni, employers, local school districts/agencies, and the Alabama State Department of Education and other state agencies to support program and unit accreditation efforts.
  • Working with the University's Office of Institutional Planning, Research and Effectiveness and other appropriate University offices to acquire necessary data to meet the assessment and research needs of the Dean's office and departments and programs across the college.
  • Assisting specific academic program coordinators in preparing and submitting unit, college, program, and state reports consistent with and required by various accrediting bodies such as CAEP, ALSDE, ASHA, CSWE and CACREP as well as supporting the assembly of internal reports as required by the University and the college.
  • Managing, completing, and interpreting reliability and validity studies of key assessments.
  • Identifying and communicating evidence-based recommendations targeting student and candidate growth and program improvement.
  • Representing the college at professional meetings and conferences related to assessment, accreditation, evaluation, research, and research methodologies.
  • Coordinating preparation for Praxis assessments by developing and implementing innovative strategies to ensure that students and candidates are successful at meeting cut scores on all praxis series tests.
  • Serving as a resource for faculty and staff on issues pertaining to program evaluation, course assessments and accreditation.
  • Leading the college assessment committee.
  • Engaging collegially with faculty, staff and students.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • Master's degree required. Doctoral degree is not required but preferred.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, program assessment, and evaluating program effectiveness with programs tools such as e.g. Banner 9, Watermark, SAS, R, Power BI, Tableau, SPSS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability tomanage multiple projects efficiently, meeting deadlines, and staying within predetermined project parameters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including administrators, faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop or deploy data management systems, and implement and maintain data storage and management.
  • Ability to assist programs with quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate the development and submission of the CAEP institutional report and annual reports.
  • Ability to support all programs within the college with data management and analysis for continuous program improvement and accreditation.
  • Knowledge of research design; quantitative data mining, analysis, interpretation and reporting; and quantitative and qualitative assessment, analysis and reporting.
