Primary Purpose:
The Head Football Coach and Senior Athletic Director for Uplift Education will build the 11-man tackle football and flag football programs, starting with middle and high schools, and expanding to primary schools in subsequent years. The leader in this role will inspire scholars to be both excellent in their athletics and their academics. The Head Football Coach and Senior Athletic Director will be the ambassador of the football program to donors and community leaders. This leader will also be a critical partner to the campus leaders in building a strong sense of school pride and community through enhanced athletic and extracurricular offerings.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop overall strategy and launch for 11-man football at Uplift Hampton and Uplift Wisdom middle and high schools including how to grow program over the next 3-5 years
  • Develop overall strategy and launch flag football programs (for girls and at Uplift primary schools) across the network over the next 3 years
  • Directly serve as head coach for Uplift Hampton and Uplift Wisdom high school football teams and leverage an Asst. Head Coach when/ if schools have conflicting schedules
  • Collaborate with Uplift's College Counselors at Uplift Hampton and Uplift Wisdom to support scholar athletes who want to play football in college
  • Ensure that players and supporting staff adhere to all rules set by the association, conference, university, or school district
  • Work in partnership with campus leadership at Uplift Hampton and Uplift Wisdom to support strong school culture
  • Collaborate with Uplift's Athletics Director, where appropriate, on broader Uplift athletic priorities
  • Recruit and develop assistant coaches for high school team and all coaches for middle school, flag football, and primary school teams
  • Manage the network athletic trainer and help develop the strength and conditioning program for players
  • Serve as external ambassador of Uplift's football program with donors and media
  • Help coordinate efforts with former NFL players who want to be involved with the program (e.g., skills camp, mentor Asst. Coach, etc.)
  • Lead recruitment efforts for scholar athletes and work in partnership with Uplift enrollment team
  • Serve as champion of Uplift's desire for excellence in both academics and athletics and support athletes in reaching their academic goals in partnership with educators
  • Ensure that players and supporting staff model appropriate respect for one another and other teams and coaches
  • Work with network Director of Athletics to schedule facilities for practices and competitions

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree preferred; may substitute equivalent work experience for degree preference.
  • Experience Requirements: Prior experience coaching youth sports required
  • Special Skills/Certifications: Collegiate and professional football experience required

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication: The individual should be able to express themselves clearly in written and verbal forms.
  • Bilingual Skills: N/A

Physical Demands: The ability to stand for extended periods, run, and demonstrate football techniques. The capacity to lift and carry sports equipment and gear.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed both indoors (gymnasium, weight room) and outdoors. Evening, weekend and holiday work is required during the football season. Travel to away games and events is necessary.

Starting Salary: $125,000
