The Principal is responsible for all day-to-day operations and oversight of the Whitney Hall School program. The Principal works collaboratively with treatment team members, Boards of Education, surrogates, parents/guardians and youth to ensure a holistic approach to help students reach their potential.

The Principal is responsible for all day-to-day operations and oversight of the Whitney Hall School program. The Principal works collaboratively with treatment team members, Boards of Education, surrogates, parents/guardians and youth to ensure a holistic approach to help students reach their potential.
Accountable and responsible for the following results:
- Establish and maintain high expectations and standards for student learning and behavior.
- Works with staff for continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
- Works with staff to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment.
- Works closely with PRTF and Day School staff regarding student enrollments to school.
- Attends weekly meetings with PRTF leadership.
- Responsible for updating Whitney Hall's Student Handbook.
- Responsible for planning and implementing Connecticut's System for Educator Evaluation and Development (SEED) in collaboration with Supervisor of Special Education.
- Regular communication and availability to parents, families, and the community.
- Supervises morning arrival, dining hall and dismissal procedures.
- Collaborates with clinical team to provide therapeutic day school programming.
- Works with students, staff and families to hold students accountable and engage in restorative processes.
- Provide direction and supervision of educational and support staff assigned Whitney Hall School.
- Develop, manage, and report the diagnostic and educational assessment profiles for students enrolled at Whitney Hall School.
- Assist the Vice President of Education in the development and reporting of the school budget and expenditures related to the Whitney Hall School educational effort.
- Oversees, evaluates, and implements the Behavioral Management Plan at the Whitney Hall School program in collaboration with the School Supervisors.
- Assist the Vice President of Education with "on-call coverage" during periods of school recess to ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
- Serve as the Agency's facilitator of the TEAM program.
- Collaborates with others to develop, monitor, and evaluate school improvement plan, including therapeutic day school programming.
- Coordinates and chairs regularly scheduled staff meetings in collaboration with the Director of Education.
- In collaboration with Supervisor of Special Ed. and Head Teachers coordinates evaluation, supervision, training, and goal setting for teachers.
Minimum Qualifications and Licensure/Certification:
- In accordance with Connecticut State Board of Education requirements. Certification in Special Education (165) as well as School Administration and Supervision (Intermediate Supervision - 092).
- Experience teaching and working with a population of special needs children and a background in behavioral management.
- A requisite professional preparation in special education required.
- Possess administrative and managerial abilities.
- Know how to plan, implement, and actualize educational goals.
