Position Summary

Whitworth is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to join our Institutional Advancement team. This position is responsible for managing corporate and foundation relations, acting as a liaison to the Whitworth School of Business and its advisory board, and engaging with major gift donors. The role also involves facilitating the President's Leadership Forum and similar community/external relations programs.
Core Responsibilities

Major Gift Officer | 30%
  • Manage relationships with assigned major gift donors and cultivate new prospects.
  • Steward relationships with planned giving/wills and bequests donors and prospects.
  • Support IA staff-directed fundraising efforts, including the annual fund, President's Gathering, President's Club, and One Pine Day.
  • Travel as needed to visit key constituents.
Corporate Relations | 25%
  • Serve as the primary relationship holder for local and regional corporations.
  • Dedicate efforts to advance new business relationships and integrate activities across campus.
  • Identify cultivation strategies for corporate prospects.
  • Write and submit funding proposals for events, programs, projects, and capital development activities.
  • Involve the president in corporate campus visits and significant fundraising asks.
  • Serve as the Advancement liaison to the School of Business and its Business Advisory Board.
  • Uphold the university's mission, public relations, and brand management standards.
Foundation Relations | 20%
  • Cultivate foundation relationships in alignment with institutional fundraising priorities.
  • Write and submit private foundation proposals, coordinated with the Director of Sponsored Programs.
Presidential Support | 15%
  • Participate with the president and other staff in planning and executing the Presidents' Leadership Forum, including contract management, sponsor recruitment, and event administration.
  • Further relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks | 10%
  • Write an annual plan with strategies for the assigned major gift portfolio.
  • Write and upload call reports detailing each meaningful donor engagement.
  • Participate in major gift officer meetings, reporting, training, and consultant advising.
  • Uphold the university's mission, public relations, and brand management standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree is required and Whitworth considers candidates with a wide range of educational backgrounds. We value the skills and knowledge candidates bring to Whitworth, regardless of the paths they have taken to acquire them.
  • Three to five years of relevant advancement or planned giving experience (five years of comparable experience may be considered).

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with donor management software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing and editing; some proposal and grant writing experience is desired.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity for project management and problem-solving.
  • Availability and willingness to travel in the U.S. as needed.
Preferred
  • Masters degree.

SCHEDULE
Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 40 hours per week | 12 months
