Are you an experienced and driven Account Management professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a driven, energetic, and assertive Director, Account Management to join our team.
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the account management team to ensure the delivery of outstanding client service, achievement of sales targets, and long-term client retention. This role involves developing strategic account plans, leading high-profile client engagements, and fostering a high-performance culture within the team. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of services and to drive revenue growth.
This role will split their time between our Rutherford, New Jersey office (1 day) and working remote (4 days). Flexibility is provided.

What You'll Do:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the account management team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth
Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as the primary point of contact for escalations and strategic discussions
- Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, effective issue resolution, and consistent delivery of value
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and drive additional revenue streams
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement strategic account plans that align with company objectives and client needs
- Monitor and analyze account performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure alignment on strategies and execution
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts, as well as in new markets
- Participate in key client presentations and negotiations to secure new business
Financial Management:
- Manage the account management budget, including forecasting, expense management, and resource allocation
- Monitor account profitability and take corrective actions as needed to achieve financial goals
Process and Product Improvement:
- Develop processes, procedures and SLAs to ensure we are providing best in class service to Northstar's clients
- Continuously evaluate and improve account management processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Be a key leader in the Product Roadmap discussion to ensure we are developing products, tools and technologies that best meet our clients and internal needs
- In partnership with Product, help develop client reports that provide deep analytics and insights to our customers
What You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in account management, sales, or client services, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving results
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and account profitability
- Proficiency in CRM software and other account management tools
