Director of Plant Operations

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for oversight and direction of the management of Anchor Ingredients' company-owned and operated processing facilities and warehouses. The Company is headquartered in Fargo, ND currently operating six SQF Certified processing facilities, one bulk grain storage facility and one grain transloading/cross dock facility across the Upper Midwest.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct and lead each facility or program manager on effective management of production, maintenance, quality, safety, logistics and staffing strategies. Focus on operational effectiveness and efficiency, oversee and manage facility P&L's and direct facility annual CapEx. Ability to step in to manage daily operations as needed.

Plant & Equipment
  • Oversee continued implementation of PM Program utilizing ERP system across facility network.
  • Assess, recommend to management, and manage capital expenditures which improve plant productivity, reduce downtime and drive safety initiatives.
  • Drive implementation of technology/automation at the facilities to increase efficiencies, reduce labor costs and increase plant uptime.
  • Identify and cultivate preferred contractor network for millwright, automation, general contractors, and building vendors.
  • Primary point person for third party vendors and contractors.
  • Work with management team during the design, layout, and construction of future processing facilities.

Plant Operations
  • Drive operational excellence across all facilities.
  • Coordinate plant activities to ensure the Company is meeting required processing commitments.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with quality production standards at all production facilities.
  • Manage the creation of plant KPI's to increase visibility at the facility level.
  • Implement systems to control operating expenses across all processing plants and warehouses.
  • Implement best practices companywide regarding process flow, quality, safety and overall efficiencies.

Labor Management
  • Provide leadership to your Operations Team with effective communication, coaching, training and development.
  • Motivate, develop and manage performance of your team to maximize performance and productivity of their assigned plants, warehouses and programs.
  • Work with Director of Human resource for planning and recruiting to ensure staffing requirements drive plant productivity and efficiency improvements.

Warehousing & Inventory
  • Continue implementation of advancing ERP build out in company owned warehouses and facilities.
  • Oversee management and operations of company-owned warehouses.
  • Ensure plant processes result in accurate real-time inventory.
  • Provide Plant Managers with best practices for warehouse management and inventory controls.

Safety & Quality
  • Work with Safety Coordinator to monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards at all production facilities.
  • Build and cultivate a culture of safety across all Anchor facilities.
  • Ensure product quality is within specification across all facilities.
  • Work with quality team to ensure food safety initiatives are met at all facilities.
  • Oversee and hold teams accountable for successful implementation and adherence of food safety programs and processes within the facilities and manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with overall quality standards at all production facilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations or related field
  • 10+ years of related operations experience
  • Knowledge of food quality standards and overall safety procedures
  • Proven ability to lead through change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Ability to react quickly and accommodate change
  • Willingness to travel between facilities (position requires up to 75% travel)

While performing the duties of this job inside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions for an office environment with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
