Summary

Electrical Controls Engineer with experience in programming, troubleshooting, material handling, automation, controls design, and data collection. Troubleshoots all aspects of electrical controls systems of industrial/manufacturing equipment and machinery. This includes at least a general knowledge in the design and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems for machines and equipment. Knowledge of Electrical distribution systems for voltage below 600V. Knowledge of NEC, UL508 and NFPA 79 codes specific to industrial manufacturing equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all aspects of production machinery electrical control systems as needed.

Discusses projects with Supervisor and Manufacturing Applications Engineer to review functions of machines and equipment.

Work with 0-600 VAC and 0-1000 VDC, single phase and three phase.

Build panels, wire panels, and all aspects of the machinery electrical control systems as needed.

PLC programming with a strong knowledge of ladder logic. Idec, Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens.

Configure automation equipment such as PLC's, VFD's, HMI's, Servo's, etc.

Familiarity with serial communications preferred as we have a quantity of legacy equipment using RS232 and RS485.

Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA.

Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical.

Research and specify components for electrical equipment and systems as needed or assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

Computer skills to include a working knowledge of windows software, Microsoft Office products, drafting software (AutoCad), SCADA software, and pertinent electrical component programming software packages.
