The Performance Cable Systems and Materials Division has been a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality copper and fiber optic communication cables for over 35 years. Our state-of-the-art facility specializes in the design and construction of advanced communication cables. The PCA Category 5e, 6, 6A, and fiber optic cables are engineered to surpass applicable standards and outperform required specifications for applications such as gigabit Ethernet, 10-gigabit Ethernet, VOIP, and POE+.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for new product design as it relates to analyzing and ensuring the integrity of signal transmission across various cable types. This role involves evaluating and optimizing the performance of signal paths to prevent data loss, signal degradation, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) through both theoretical and empirical approaches. In addition, this role will support the modification, enhancement and improvement of existing products. This is an integral position within the Engineering team and shall interface and provide a technical support bridge between quality, operations, sales, and engineering.

Primary
- Assess and optimize signal paths through transmission lines to ensure signal quality.
- Act as liaison between Product Engineering and Quality departments to create and verify new testing procedures and equipment, derived from new product development.
- Analyze test results to diagnose and resolve signal integrity issues.
- Creation of quotes based on requirements provided by Customers, as well as creation of specifications for Customer signoffs.
- Creation of detailed technical specifications for the purpose of product manufacturing.
- Maintenance of specifications to ensure accuracy between documentation and product manufactured.
- Creation of Purchasing specifications for raw materials used on product manufacturing.
Secondary
- Able to support new product development projects following established stage gate system.
- Perform data analysis through the use of statistical software (e.g. JMP, Minitab) in order to improve quality of new cables as well as current/older versions.
- Assist company technical staff with white papers either jointly with partners or independently; assist in catalog creation/modification as well as with official website regarding technical training, technology explanations and performance-oriented sales materials.
- Assist quality department in creation of test procedures, testing templates, test fixtures, and equipment purchases.
- Assist Production department and Process engineering team on technical obstacles present in day-to-day operations.
- Work with process engineering to establish equipment process capabilities.
- Assist lab staff with QA issues relating to signal performance and failure analysis.
- Adhere to the core HCM goals of ISO9000 Total Quality Management.
- Subscribe to and practice 5S, JIT, etc.
- Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- 3 years of experience in an engineering environment
- B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline required
- Master's degree in engineering preferred
- Wire and cable experience preferred
- Ability to lead projects and groups during tight timelines established by Principal Product Engineer Manager
- Relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional mathematic skills, up to and including the utilization of mathematical modeling techniques
- Detailed oriented with attention to accuracy and thoroughness
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet or exceed deadlines
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and troubleshoot activities
- Ability to work under pressure of time and resource constraints.
- Respond to shifting priorities in a cooperative manner
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency utilizing computer programs, customized systems, and Microsoft office including WORD and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communications skills for communication with management, co-workers, outside vendors, etc.
