Job Summary

Under general supervision of the UC Primary Care- China Basin Nurse Manager, guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Supervisor is responsible for the efficient organization and operation of clinical workflows and processes.

The China Basin practice supervisor will oversee both Primary Care clinics at 185 Berry Street Lobby 1 and Lobby 2 (including embedded services Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Pharmacy). S/he supervises the registration staff, facilitating positive interaction among staff, patients, and other departments within the practice. S/he works to establish and promote teamwork among practice staff. S/he must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients, and providers. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff, and patients in a complex environment. This role is a working supervisor role, and the incumbent will be expected to continue to support practice operations by triaging patients, rooming patients, administering injections,other administrative and clinical tasks as assigned based on the teamlet model.

This position works closely with the practice leadership and providers in supporting practice goals. S/he will attend management meetings at the discretion of the Nurse Manager. This position collaborates with the practice leadership to develop, monitor and maintain systems pertaining to all aspects of their function(s).
This position will supervise staff involved in providing interdisciplinary clinical / nursing care at a clinic and / or center, such as RNs, LVNs, and Medical Assistants, etc. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in assigned clinic(s) and serves as a role model. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.

Ensures quality of the RN patient care and serves as a role model. Assists staff with escalated issues and reports patients' status and concerns to management or clinicians as needed.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $113,500 - $258,100 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s). Strong knowledge of practice operations
  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations, and internal policies
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations and problem solving with all levels of management, staff, consultants, and outside agencies
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, and to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ambulatory Nursing Certification
  • Previous healthcare supervisory experience. Charge nurse role with experience in management of scheduling with planned and/or sick calls. Management of clinical flow, inventory, supplies, laboratory POCT requirements
  • Oversight of regulatory compliance matters, ambulatory self-assessments and other regulatory standards. Creating and evaluating policy and standardizations in ambulatory setting
  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center patient care
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters. Experience with recruitment and onboarding of new staff, performance management of personnel


License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
