Job Title: Sales Engineer
Reports to: Sales Director for Equipment
Pay: $82,938.78 to $101,600 annually
Job Summary
As a member of the sales team, you will serve as an initial contact by the sales team for development of customer opportunities, in a specific territory, for key technologies such as infeed/wash systems, end of line palletizing equipment and other products. The sales engineer will work under the Director of Sales for Equipment and Engineered Solutions, to help guide growth and profitability to meet or exceed budget goals. The Sales Engineer will need to work in a collaborative manner acting as communication bridge between our customers, key vendors, internal sales colleagues, and Volm's VEST, ensuring the combined strengths of the organizations result in a winning combination to secure new business.

Essential Duties
- Follow prescribed workflow for lead follow-up and data management.
- Document needs of the clients specific to the commodities and technologies applicable.
- Prepare flow diagrams of process.
- Combine design skills and equipment aptitude to create packing house concepts for vendors and internal resources to assist with solutions.
- Manage larger design projects with customers/vendors/VEST/Volm management (when applicable) to see opportunities to close of sale.
- Assist in gathering and creation of equipment videos/pictures and other material for marketing and promotional purposes.
- Attending tradeshows, equipment trials, vendor site visits as necessary.
- Customer cold calling, research, and prospect list building to develop and achieve new business sales targets.
- Create and deliver sales presentations to internal groups, customers and suppliers as required.
- Provide forecasting information to management regularly.
- Maintain a professional appearance in attire and personal care.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Solidworks and/or AutoCAD.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and broad spectrum of managers and departments.
- Adaptability and flexibility to embrace change and learn new skills.
- Strong time management skills for efficient task allocation and meeting deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail in completing tasks and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Customer service orientation with a focus on understanding and addressing customer needs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Understanding of flow diagrams, Gantt schedules and committed to meeting timelines on a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work on multiple projects/strategies at once with adaptability to change.
- Have a valid passport and not legally restricted to travel internationally.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in fresh produce packaging or food processing preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
- Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read documents.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, especially for office-based roles that involve desk work or operating computer systems.
- Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.
Travel Requirements
- This position requires up to 50% of travel between locations and vendor sites using a personal motor or company vehicle.
- Undergo MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) driver monitoring in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as per company standards and as is defined in Volm Driver Policies.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance limit of $300,000 per accident and $100,000 of personal property coverage.
