JOB SUMMARY: The Airport Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Airport Operations Manager. These areas include but are not limited to ensuring the airport maintains compliance with the FAA mandated 14 CFR-Part 139 requirements for the "Certification of Airports". The collaboration of department responsibilities ensures the day-to-day oversight of the employees, equipment and tools are managed with sufficient attention to promote the highest level of productivity and readiness is maintained. The Assistant Manager must be self-motivated and organized to deliver excellent communication and technical skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Assists in the compliance with the latest revisions of the FAA approved Airport Certification Manual. Continuously monitors field conditions which may require NOTAMS (Notice to Air Missions). Monitors and updates airfield inspections, workorders and various projects being performed. Assists in developing procedures and programs related to safety and security of the airport. Assists in planning and execution of special missions involving heavy weather events. Assists in employee hiring practices, training phases and retention initiatives. Performs the administrative coordination and record keeping of the department files. Assist with departmental internal and external communication and collaboration efforts. Fills the scheduled needs of the department as operationally necessary. Assist the Department Head with the planning and preparation of the annual budget process. Supervises non-exempt employees and delegates tasks and assignments to accomplish the mission set forth by the Department Head. Assumes operational control of the department in the absence of the Manager. Performs all other duties as assigned and directed. Adhere to all Authority personnel policies and departmental guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge, skills and abilities required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Utilizes FAA advisory circulars and knowledge of Airport Authority rules and regulations to airfield. Demonstrates competence in performing daily operational task assignments and responsibilities. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of Part 139 requirements and the application to airports. Ability to analyze situations quickly and determine the proper course of action. Uses technical qualifications to resolve operational issues that mitigate hazards on the airfield. Ability to use computers and other technology as a daily business tool. Ability to prepare effective and concise reports on behalf of the department. Ability to work independently, establishing priorities to carry projects through to timely completion, and when necessary, meeting emergency demands. Demonstrates the ability to manage effective working relationships with internal and external partners. Maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, airport management, or a related field, preferred. AAAE - Airport Certified Employee (A.C.E.) credentials, required. Intermediate or advanced computer skills required.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three years of Airport Operations experience working at a small, medium, or large hub airport, required.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Attended Basic and Advance Airport Safety and Operations Specialist (ASOS) Schools, preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a valid driver's license and must meet NAA driving record requirements. Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Loud noise from jet engines taking off or landing. Experience frequent emergency response issues taking place. Working in a restricted security level access environment.
DRIVING RECORD REQUIREMENTS: All drivers must be at least 21 years of age, licensed for at least 3 years, have the type of license required by their state for the vehicles operated and meet the following driving record standards.
