Role description:
Arcadis seeks an experienced Traffic Design Engineer to join the Traffic Design Team. You will have the opportunity to work with senior engineers across the Southeast to gain a better understanding of the transportation industry, further develop your technical skills, and mentor junior staff. This position can be remote with the willingness to travel for project coordination/meetings.
This role sits within the larger Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.

Role description:

Role accountabilities:
- Assist senior engineers in the preparation of traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and marking designs, conceptual designs for intersections, and/or Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.
- Assist senior engineers in the development of fiber design, network architecture and conducting link-loss budgets for large scale ITS projects across the Southeast.
- Assist senior engineers in the development of sign design, signing layouts and pavement marking designs.
- Assist senior engineers in the development of signal plans including signal design layout, pole loading details, pole height calculations and clearance calculations.
- Under leadership of project manager, coordinate and interface with clients to discuss technical elements of the project and present analysis results.
- Assist project managers with the development of fee estimates and the execution/oversight tasks for major projects.
- Providing training and mentoring to junior engineers and interns in areas of technical proficiency and consultancy
- Develop proficiency in traffic analysis and modeling software including Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim, and SIDRA
Key Attributes:
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: ITS design, traffic signal design, signing and marking design
- Experience/ familiarity with MicroStation and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer
- Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience post degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- PE or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Must possess a U.S. Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using AutoTURN and GuideSIGN
- Design experience in Florida is desired
