POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Student Health, Safety, and Wellness is a key leadership role within the Student Services Department, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive programs that promote the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of students, with the primary goal of improving student learning. This position oversees a wide range of programs and services, including Health Services, Threat Assessment, English Language programming, 504 compliance, and overall leading initiatives that support overall student wellness. The Director collaborates with district leadership, school administrators, healthcare professionals, and community partners to create a supportive and healthy learning environment. This position requires a strong commitment to student safety, a deep understanding of health and wellness practices, and the ability to lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team

- Salary: $135,000 - $142,0000 depending on qualifications (prorated to start date.)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Lead the development and implementation of district-level protocols to ensure consistent and effective procedures across all schools.
- Assess the effectiveness of health, safety, and wellness programs, providing feedback, recommendations, and technical support to enhance program outcomes.
- Provide leadership and management for district nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality health services to students, and collaborate with the Nurse Lead to support other nursing personnel.
- Oversee all district student health services, ensuring consistent, effective, and compliant care across the district.
- Manage personnel-related activities including recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and professional development of student services staff.
- Supervise and evaluate district-level Student Services Coordinators and other leaders responsible for student health, safety, and wellness, ensuring alignment with district policies and procedures ? Develop and implement professional improvement plans in collaboration with other administrators as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Student Services to plan and determine staffing needs for health services, safety, and wellness programs.
- Partner with the Executive Director of Student Services, the Student Services Finance and Compliance Specialist, and the Business Department to manage fiscal resources and grants related to health, safety, and wellness, including budget preparation and expenditure approval.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations across all programs.
- Oversee Title 1 programs, monitor their effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.
- Supervise and collaborate with the Threat Assessment Specialist to monitor and respond to potential safety threats, and oversee the systems for reporting and managing incidents.
- Coordinate with School Resource Officers (SROs) to maintain a safe learning environment and foster positive relationships between students and law enforcement.
- Lead the district's crisis response efforts, including the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans and safety protocols.
- Work closely with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure the safety and security of all district schools.
- Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and actively participate in district leadership team meetings.
- Oversee English Learner programming and the English Learner Coordinator, including supervision, staffing, support, and budget management.
- Attend school board meetings as requested by the Executive Director of Student Services or Superintendent.
- Maintain clear, effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community partners regarding health, safety, and wellness programs.
- Facilitate collaborative relationships among parents, school personnel, and external agencies and organizations.
- Oversee 504 compliance, ensuring that all students receive appropriate accommodations and support.
- Lead the Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) program, providing targeted academic and behavioral interventions for identified K-5 students, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring progress through data-driven assessments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services or Superintendent.
- Valid Minnesota Principal or Director of Special Education license, or eligibility to obtain one.
- At least two years of district-level administrative experience in student services or a related field.
- Experience managing staff and programs addressing a wide range of health, safety, and wellness needs.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to student health, safety, and wellness.
- Skills in group facilitation, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to execute detailed written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of best practices in education and student wellness.
- Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proven leadership abilities in guiding and supporting health, safety, and wellness staff.
