Munster is seeking a Town Manager to be responsible for duties such as hiring of personnel, administration of Munster's bidding process, and overseeing the town's various departments including Operations (Public Works) and Planning and Community Development. Police and Fire report to the Board of Safety, and Parks and Recreation report to the Park Board.

Responsibilities of the position include:
Leadership and Management
Directs and manages all Town departments, agencies, and offices to achieve goals.
Evaluates department operations and projects.
Supervises Town personnel, including department heads.
Provides training and instruction, and plans, coordinates, assigns, and reviews work.
Strategic Planning and Policy Development
Directs the development of short and long-range plans.
Organizes workloads, prioritizes projects, and participates in developing policies and procedures.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Advisory and Reporting
Provides professional advice and guidance to the Town Council and department heads.
Gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations.
Prepares a variety of reports.
Community and Public Relations
Serves as liaison to the public, councils, boards, commissions, civic groups, businesses, and other municipalities.
Represents the Town at various meetings and as requested.
Budget and Financial Management
Prepares annual budget requests and the preliminary Town Budget.
Monitors and administers budgeted funds, approves purchases, and controls costs.
Issue Resolution and Compliance
Responds to questions and complaints from Town personnel and the public.
Resolves grievances and ensures Town compliance with applicable safety and other laws, ordinances, and requirements.
Policy Recommendations
Recommends measures for adoption by the Council.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $135,000 - $160,000. Benefits include vacation, holidays and holiday bonus pay, two PTO days for all FTEs in place on January 1, sick and injury time, Town contribution to a deferred compensation plan, longevity pay; and Park discounts including pool and golf memberships, programs, and trips. Residency is required.
Desired Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field with extensive experience as a municipal manager, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position requires the applicant to be bondable.
