The Controls Programmer(PLC) -Contract provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise to create and implement new software standards, modular code, and new processes that enable CDI to scale engineering and production without sacrificing our core value of putting our customer's critical climate first via customization.

The Controls Programmer(PLC) -Contract provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise to create and implement new software standards, modular code, and new processes that enable CDI to scale engineering and production without sacrificing our core value of putting our customer's critical climate first via customization.
Major roles and responsibilities:
- Design for flexibility / modularity. Remove recurring programming costs by standardizing at a level that allows for flexibility for our customers while maintaining a low-cost design. Enable less experienced engineers to create unique world-class systems from standard modules/code.
- Design for installation, serviceability, and troubleshooting including clear user interface and data logging for future analysis.
- Design for user experience. Provide clear, intuitive controller interfaces for monitoring machine health, operating values and alarms. Provide seamless BAS integration points for automation and visibility. Assist the Engineering Manager with mentoring junior engineers and technicians throughout the development cycle to support their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Applicable Engineering degree, i.e.- B.S. Software Engineering Degree, BSEE, BSME, or equivalent
- Demonstrates systems thinking
- 6+ years of experience at OEM equipment manufacturers
Experience and Knowledge:
- Modular software architecture to allow for efficient, scalable, unique programs
- OEM controls engineering experience across multiple industries, and companies, to bring vast experience to bear on the problem
- Applies knowledge of control theory, HVAC applications, and component knowledge for software design, hardware selection, sequence development, and implementation.
- Understand and interpret schematics with relay logic to predict equipment function, performance, and safeties.
- Ability to apply control theory to tune PID loops to acceptable outcomes
- Develop HVAC programming solutions in Carel, Distech, and Allen Bradley hardware frameworks.
- Strong PC Skills, MSOffice,

- Author concise, user-friendly documentation of electronic/electrical systems operation and diagnostic requirements including test/validation plans

Bonus Skillsets:
- HVAC experience, with specialty knowledge and past experience in desiccant and refrigeration
- Lean Six Sigma thinking regarding flow and value streams
- Growth mindset of coaching others to higher levels of responsibility and authority, to ensure continuous company growth
- Experience with Carel, Distech, or Allen Bradley PLC's
- Experience with Modbus, BACnet, Serial Protocols or other Building Networks.
- Experience with PROFIBUS and PROFINET
- Experience with "Function Blocks" for modular programs.
- Experience with "AOI" (Add on Instructions) and "UDT" (User Defined Data Types)
- Experience with Niagara Framework
