SUMMARY: SABG is hiring a Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Advanced Operations Support Watch Officer to support the GM Alaska Operations Support Center (AOSC) at Ft. Greely, Alaska. We are seeking dedicated personnel for this unique position with a rotating shift schedule.

  • Perform duties as the Lead GM Operations Support Watch Officer/Operations Support Analysts in the AOSC.
  • Responsible for leading 24/7/365 AOSC operations to include monitoring, deconfliction, coordination, execution and timely reporting of significant events and activities supporting development efforts, operation and support activities, and daily operations of the Missile Defense System (MDS).
  • Responsible for establishing and managing employee work schedules (forecasted a minimum of three months out) ensuring the 24/7/365 Operations Desk is continually staffed with highly trained and qualified Watch Officers/Operations Support Analysts.
  • Lead as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary point of contact, having overall responsibility for activities in the AOSC.
  • Use the BMDS Scheduled Activity Tool (BSAT), Integrated Scheduling Tool (IST), and direct coordination with Combatant Command GM managers for real-time coordination and confirmation of scheduled / unscheduled asset maintenance actions and changes in MDS configuration.
  • Determine the appropriate reporting document for various situations and forward reports to ensure GM leadership is kept properly apprised of events: Critical Information Report (CIR), Logistics Report (LOGREP), Status Reports, written and telephonic notification when necessary.
  • Provide professional presentations to senior leaders.
  • Execute hands-on control of daily events through participation in numerous telephonic coordination conferences to define scope of work, assess mission impacts and either recommend approval or provide justification to defer actions to the BMDS Watch Officer (BWO).
  • Track maintenance and development activities using the Weekly Activity Message (WAM).
  • Enter LOGREPs into the Missile Defense Reporting System (MDRS) to properly document any system outages as well as Warfighter System Availability studies. On occasion, the Operations Support Watch Officer supports data pulls from MDRS to help support system analysis.

SUPERVISION:This position is the SABG Site-Lead for Ft. Greely, responsible for overseeing, supervising, and managing a diverse team of dedicated Watch Officers and Operations Support Analysts executing 24/7/365 classified operations and support functions within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Alaska Operations Support Center (AOSC), Ft. Greely, Alaska. Serves as the Site Director's on-duty representative for Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) operations at the AOSC.
  • Lead in the development and execution of emergency response action plans; execute, test and evaluate approved plans, and develop improvement plans based on documented results.
  • Develop, manage, and update Watch Officer and Operation Support Analyst training programs and develop lesson plans ensuring all personnel are trained and certified on current procedures within the AOSC supporting operations on the missile defense complex (MDC).
  • Develop and prepare management reports and briefings based on documented processes to provide decision-makers real-time data to make informed decisions on the customer's areas of responsibility.
  • Possess the requisite verbal and written skills and the ability to transfer key knowledge points, clarify technical data, and simplify complex planning and operation strategies and courses of -action for peers and subordinates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Capable of providing support for Programmatic and Communication techniques and processes to support stakeholder requirements. Has specialized relevant knowledge, works as a member of team, and assists with solving complex problems. Must be fully trained in Watch Officer and Operations Support Analysts duties and able to work a rotating shift schedule, which includes 7 days on / 7 days off, 12-hour shifts, alternating dayshift and nightshift when required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years' experience analyzing and reporting operational activities, to include:
    • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational readiness data and impacts
    • Collecting and disseminating critical incidents and significant events
    • Understanding and communicating asset management and configuration management impacts on a major weapon system
    • Assessing information and making critical decisions
    • 5+ years' experience leading complex teams in an operational environment
  • Must be able work independently, analyze written and oral instructions regarding planned and unscheduled maintenance events and assess impacts of these events on BMDS mission readiness.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to support multiple projects, possess excellent communication skills, work well within a team, interact with multiple levels of management, and be able to manage customer and contractor relationships
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Possess exceptionally strong writing skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Skilled in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

CLEARANCE: Must possess a Secret clearance.
