Fremont School District 79 is seeking an Occupational Therapist.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.A. in Occupational Therapy
- Licensed through the Department of Professional Standards
To provide Occupational services in compliance with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Standards of Practice and Principles of Ethics and all legal and PAEC Board approved rules and regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate students to determine eligibility for OT services.
- When indicated, based on the OT evaluation, establish and implement treatment programs in collaboration with parents and school staff, including:
- Obtain medical information and referrals for treatment
- Define problem areas and formulate written goals
- Schedule treatment sessions
- Communicate with parents and staff
- Consult with the educational team to assist with the implementation of ideas in the classroom
- Reevaluate and update goals throughout the year
- Maintain accurate written records in compliance with District 79 and AOTA guidelines.
- Maintain an inventory and assess the need for new equipment/supplies on a yearly basis.
- Participate in inservice, student/parent/teacher conferences, and annual reviews.
- Be available to all staff as a consultant.
- Maintain OT licensure with the State of Illinois Department of Registration and Education and Registration with AOTA.
- Participate in professional continuing education.
- If appropriate, supervise a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Student Services or Building Principal.
