Job Summary:
The Estimator for Commercial Refrigeration is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for refrigeration systems used in industrial and commercial facilities. This role involves analyzing project specifications, collaborating with various departments, and preparing detailed cost estimates that consider all aspects of the project, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of work.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to gather data and assess project conditions.
Project Planning and Management:
- Design custom refrigeration packages to be built in house
- Design custom heat reclaim refrigeration systems
- Design of hydronic systems
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering options.
-Size refrigeration equipment for chillers, freezers, coolers and process facilities.
-Obtain material quotes and price installation projects for customers
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timeline, and budget.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project milestones are met.
Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for refrigeration projects.
- Analyze project requirements and provide accurate and competitive bids.
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure they remain within budget.
Bid Preparation:
- Prepare and submit formal bid proposals in accordance with company policies and client requirements.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure that all estimates are accurate and reflect the project requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
- Prepare and present project status reports to management and clients.
- Document and resolve any project issues or changes promptly.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. PMP certification is a plus. . Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in Estimating within the mechanical contracting industry, with a focus on refrigeration systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in estimating software and estimation tools. Strong understanding of refrigeration systems and industry standards.
- Auto CAD an asset
- Strong excel skills
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to handle multiple estimates simultaneously and make timely decisions.
- Leadership Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office
