The Account Executive pursues and achieves new sales and grows NHP Direct Commercial membership, with a strong emphasis on mid-large group business, by building strong relationships and exhibiting outstanding, persistent initiative, with particular emphasis on the broker community. Works collaboratively with the Sales and Actuarial team to achieve individual and department goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an effective strategic consultant to brokers and employers
  • Builds and maintains relationships with health insurance brokers and decision makers in order to grow business in the mid-large group market. Recruit and build working relationships with brokers. Travels to meet with brokers, prospects and clients.
  • Negotiates sales with broker and/or prospect to meet or exceed assigned quota.
  • Working with manager, formulates individual sales plans and develops specific strategies to achieve and/or exceed goals
  • Works with internal NHP departments including Actuary, Underwriting, Enrollment, Billing to ensure efficiency and provide excellent Member Experience.
  • Attends networking events throughout Massachusetts in order to build visibility and prospective client list.
  • Remains current with health insurance market and with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain understanding of Underwriting dynamics as it pertains to mid-large group rating.
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
  • Off-site meetings with brokers, prospects, clients.
  • Additional work is performed in a typical office work environment.
  • Some work in addition to the normal business work day - including, attending networking events and accessibility by phone/email


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or the equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 3 years of related experience.
  • Active MA Broker license (may obtain license within 90 days of employment)
  • 2 - 3 years of Health Insurance Sales/Service; preferably in the MA market.
  • Strong relationship building experience
  • Extensive knowledge of health insurance market.
  • Strong consultative selling skills, ability to build relationships, influence decision-making
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong sales, consultative and relationship building skills.
  • Possess strategic consultative skills
  • Understanding of broker-driven health insurance sales and ability to work well with brokers.
  • Educate brokers and prospects about NHP benefits, overall value and commitment to Member care.
  • Persistent, driven Sales professional.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-centered environment.
  • Detail oriented and disciplined in tracking activity
  • Knowledge of Underwriting, products, competition.
  • Knowledge of CRM, Microsoft Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of NHP products
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
  • 4 - 5 years in Health Insurance Sales in MA
  • Existing relationships with Broker Community in MA
  • Experience in Large Group Sales
