Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results. Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Must possess a strong desire to learn. Mechanical skills / experience with heavy trucks and heavy equipment is a plus.

SUMMARY
- With minimal supervision, independently apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses to solve complex problems.
- Provide technical guidance to drafters/designers and other engineers.
- Extensive progressive experience in general engineering
- Design mechanical structures and systems for truck mounted equipment that meet the applicable standards and to perform the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ownership of design and analysis of mechanical structures and components
- Create new products from clean sheet with minimal supervision and guidance
- Take input from sales / marketing and integrate into design to satisfy customer requirements
- Deep understanding of applicable industry regulations and standards
- Deep understanding of structural analysis through classical methods and computational analysis
- Create detail drawings and / or effectively delegate drawing creation
- Understanding of project schedules and time required to produce new products
- Deep understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) structures
- Work closely with procurement team to properly source and spec components during design phase
- Create test procedures and work with testing dept to implement functional, structural, and stability testing
- Make modifications to new designs based on results of testing
- Evaluate machine weight and balance for road worthiness and crane stability
- Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly
- Troubleshoot difficult mechanical system issues on machines after production
- Provide instruction to and assist in training less experienced engineers
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- FE certificate preferred but not required
- PE license preferred but not required
- Fluid Power Certification preferred but not required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 7-10+ years' experience in an engineering capacity.
- Examples of successful design and implementation of complex structures for mobile equipment
- Examples of consideration of complicated phenomena such as elastic stability, lateral torsional buckling, flat plate buckling, shear buckling, etc. in design of structures.
- Examples of successful projects taken from clean sheet through prototype, test, and into production
SKILLS
- Highly proficient in engineering design software - 3D and 2D (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred).
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office - Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Highly proficient in structural Analysis - Finite Element Analysis; static, vibration, fatigue of weldments.
- Highly proficient in structural design especially with welded steel structures.
- Understanding and use of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, xetc)
- Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers and other employees in organization.
- Ability to share design vision clearly and effectively to management and shop personnel.
