Data Scientist

Position Overview

The Data Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining data and data flows within our analytic environment to improve team efficiency and on-track performance. This position will work closely with members of the Data Analytics team, Competition personnel, Team Leadership, and technical partners to produce high-quality, mission-critical analytic platforms used to support race day operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze and organize raw data
• Create and maintain an optimal data pipeline architecture
• Develop and build the infrastructure necessary to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources using industry-standard tools
• Build analytic tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights to team personnel
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
• Support race day analytic operations to ensure information is available for timely decision making
• Aid other team members as requested by leadership
• Represent 23XI Racing in a professional manner at all times
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, the following competencies should be demonstrated:

• 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineer or related role
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Informatics or other quantitative field required, advanced degree preferred
• Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools
• Experience with AWS cloud services strongly desired
• Experience with stream-processing systems such as Kinesis, Storm or Spark-Streaming
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
• Must demonstrate personal motivation and enthusiasm; ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
• Must possess problem solving abilities for complex problem resolution, identifying, and resolving issues effectively
• A strong and demonstrated passion for racing or other professional sports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to distribute message clearly and concisely
