Job Summary
Steel Point is seeking a highly skilled Technology Consultant with a focus on Cloud Strategy and Implementation to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a high-level cloud strategy, establishing a robust governance structure, and leading the stand-up and implementation of a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) or Community of Practice (CoP). This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive cloud adoption and optimization across the organization.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a high-level cloud strategy, establishing a robust governance structure, and leading the stand-up and implementation of a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) or Community of Practice (CoP). This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive cloud adoption and optimization across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define and develop a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Assess current IT infrastructure and identify opportunities for cloud integration and optimization.
- Provide strategic recommendations for cloud service providers, solutions, and architectures.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify strategic cloud priorities and translate them into actionable initiatives.
Governance Structure:
- Design and implement a governance framework to ensure cloud services are secure, compliant, and cost-effective.
- Establish policies, procedures, and standards for cloud usage, management, and operations.
- Monitor compliance with governance policies and provide guidance on best practices.
Cloud Center of Excellence / Community of Practice:
- Lead the establishment and development of a Cloud Center of Excellence or Community of Practice.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and processes for the CCoE/CoP to ensure effective cloud management and innovation.
- Foster a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing, training, and development of cloud skills within the organization.
Implementation and Stand-Up:
- Oversee the implementation of cloud solutions, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals and governance policies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud services.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to deliver successful cloud initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to create comprehensive cloud strategy and cloud mobilization outreach plans that highlights cloud computing advantages and address operational needs and challenges.
- Establish a cloud steering committee with clear paths for escalation and approaches for decision-making
- Tailor outreach initiatives to align with federal guidelines and regulations.
- Assist OCIO team with stakeholder engagement.
- Engage with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for cloud strategy and cloud mobilization initiatives.
- Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and strategic planning sessions with stakeholders to review progress and gather feedback.
- Support content creation and dissemination of cloud information and materials by generating engaging and informative content, including outreach materials, case studies, white papers and presentations to educate internal OCIO teams and external stakeholders about the benefits and security measures associated with cloud adoption.
- Aid in the planning and coordination of knowledge-sharing initiatives and events, seminars, and webinars to educate and showcase the benefit of cloud computing.
Learning Path Development:
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions to enhance team capabilities in strategic planning, and cloud and ai initiatives.
- Determine target skillset needed to support and implement cloud journey.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to inform strategy and implementation.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for cloud services and practices.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to teams and stakeholders on cloud-related matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 8+ years of cloud technology and strategic planning support.
- Ability to stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to inform strategy and implementation.
- Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for cloud services and practices.
- Ability to provide ongoing support and guidance to teams and stakeholders on cloud-related matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Proven experience providing strategic planning support for a federal government agency
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have the ability to pass a MBI background check (includes background check, credit check, tax record check)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.
