Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a proactive approach to work and one who is driven in the pursuit of excellence. This position has technical responsibilities to oversee chemical and mechanical processes, equipment, controls, and systems that produce high quality Complex Inorganic Color Pigments (CICPs) and other market-leading products.
Our engineers build relationships with product line team members to improve operational safety, product quality, throughput, manufacturing efficiencies, and reduce the overall cost to produce within the product line. Good stewardship of daily work elements (safety, quality, productivity, change management, maintenance, and communication) for each business unit is an expectation for every Product Line Engineer.
We're looking for a team player who is able to lead successful improvement efforts with the help of cross-functional groups and other technical support.

Essential Job Functions/Duties
- Partner with the Product Line Leader (PLL) to promote a safe working environment when conducting work in the plant.
- Lead by example through demonstrating safe behaviors and habits.
- Perform daily walk-arounds and build relationships with the entire production team; get to know what "good" looks like.
- Work with Product Line team members daily to assist in resolving quality issues using failure analysis tools to prevent a recurrence of root cause(s).
- Work closely with our maintenance team members to support and facilitate certain equipment repairs, improvements, and process modifications.
- Design and implement improvement projects that are intended to produce uniform products on a consistent basis. These projects typically involve set-up/monitoring of key equipment variables, statistical data analysis, and implementation of solutions derived from these results.
- Identify equipment needs for production, including capacity increases, design improvements, and system modifications.
- Identify equipment and control needs for improved regulatory and compliance purposes.
- Facilitate scale-up of equipment and process parameters when adapting new products from R&D or the Pilot Plant to production.
- Identify and reduce waste, in all its forms, within the product group; support and enhance team 5S and other Lean efforts.
- Provide training and refresher courses to team members as needed.
- Assist the Operations team with troubleshooting problems that arise on the production floor.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering is required
- A minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience preferred in the chemical process or related industries
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management, technical staff, and other departments across the entire organization.
- Be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Be a great team member and be supportive of other teammates.
- Excellent time management skills to be able to manage schedules and work assignments for both self and others.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
- Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis tools.
- Experience working with Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) platforms (Siemens/Allen-Bradley preferred).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with Six Sigma and/or DMAIC principles.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Experience with Combustion engineering basics.
- Familiarity with SAP basics
