Job Description

Group Leader Duties:
- Responsible for the Arizona Survey group's organization, work schedules, resource assignments/needs, equipment maintenance/use, and the group's ability to produce quality deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
- Responsible for the Arizona Survey group's activities including the preparation of ALTA surveys, plats, legal descriptions, exhibits, right-of-way plans, as-builts, topographic surveys, and other deliverables as required.
- Responsible for the training of staff relative to industry best practices, applicable statutes, new technology, industry trends, and company/department standards.
- Coordinates department resources and schedules based on client and project needs.
- Assess and ensure that staff have the necessary tools to perform effectively and efficiently.
- Ensures that staff utilization aligns with department and company-specified metrics.
- Provides assessment of department resources and projections to the Practice Leader.
- Keeps Practice Leader informed of project performance, including financial concerns, schedule adherence, safety compliance, risk assessment, and staff performance issues.
- Helps develop, maintain, update, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Arizona Survey group covering both field and office procedures.
- Direct/Review field staff and the fieldwork performed for assigned projects.
- Direct/Review office staff and office deliverables for assigned projects.
- Direct/Review the reduction of field notes and calculations made by others.
- Assists/Leads project kickoff meetings and the preparation of field packets.
- Assists/Leads the preparation and production of SOQs, SOWs, and Fee Proposals for the Arizona Survey group in Arizona and other States as necessary.
- Assists in the development of yearly business plans for the Arizona Survey group.
- Assists in identifying the Arizona Survey group's needs for annual budgeting purposes (i.e., staffing, equipment, licensing, software, etc.).
- Leads efforts to hire new and/or replace staff within the Arizona Survey group.
- Reviews and provides timely approval of timesheets per the Timesheet Approval policy for Arizona staff.
Project Manager Duties:
- Serves as the "Main Point of Contact" for the Arizona Survey Group with internal and external clients and sub-consultants.
- Coordinates the technical requirements of each project with the project team.
- Manages and reviews the performance of projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Coordinates resources within the project team and company, as necessary.
- Reviews and Provides Comments/Recommendations to Practice Leader before Final Signatures.
- Reviews and Negotiates Contract Fees and sub-consultant Scope/Fees while coordinating with the Practice Leader.
- Monitors and Manages Accounting reporting items such as Project AR, Unbilled Labor, and CTC.
- Utilizes CAD platforms to manage projects, produce drawings, and provide client deliverables as necessary to hit client deadlines.
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
- Arizona Registered Professional Land Surveyor in good standing. Registration in CA, NV, IN, CO, TX is a plus. CFedS certification is desirable.
- Minimum Education: High school or equivalent. College-level classes are a plus.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of Survey and ROW experience.
- Training with an emphasis on topographic and boundary survey, research, drafting, and mapping.
- Surveying background including experience with optical instruments as well as GPS, both static and RTK.
- Familiar with both Trimble and Leica field instruments and processes.
- Must have experience with public agency projects (such as county, city, or state) and their ROW departments.
- ADOT ROW experience is a plus.
- A high degree of proficiency using CADD (AutoCAD or MicroStation) software.
- Experience with coordinate geometry, transformations, scale factors, and any projections.
- Have general computer skills in Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel, Outlook. Access, Project, and PowerPoint are a plus.
- Experience in doing static GPS post-processing and some GIS.
- Experience using aerial mapping & satellite photography.
- Experience in applying laser scanning and drone technology to projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and possess strong communication skills.
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier.
