Position Function:

The Financial Reporting Officer is a senior-level accounting position responsible for the preparation of the Company's financial statements and regulatory reports. Position includes preparation and analysis of key financial ratios, trends and report development. The position collaborates with other finance staff to meet all reporting and financial data needs, including data queries and analysis. Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of reports, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), SEC, and regulatory reporting requirements, and maintenance of appropriate internal controls over the financial reporting and accounting operation functions. Keeps abreast of all changes in accounting and reporting requirements and facilitates changes in policies and procedures as needed to maintain compliance. Assists in special projects in support of the Company's strategic initiatives to improve performance and enhance shareholder value.

Primary Accountabilities:
  • Perform general accounting and month-end close functions for CPF (both stand-alone and consolidated), CPB and affiliated entities. Prepare accounting entries, maintain accounting records, perform accrual calculations and analyze financial results to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles ("US GAAP"). Assist with calculations and reports related to stock awards, shares outstanding and EPS. Prepare reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare periodic workpapers, financial statements and related internal and external financial reports for CPF, CPB and affiliated entities. Assist with the preparation of periodic regulatory reports for the FDIC, FRB and DFI. Assist with preparation of reports to the SEC and other federal and state government agencies. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of reports and filings, and compliance with SOX internal controls. Assist with performance analysis.
  • Perform various tasks in the tax reporting function within the organization. Prepare periodic state excise tax filings. Assist with research and resolution of accounting and tax issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of requested information in connection with the quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audits by internal/external auditors and periodic examinations and inquiries by regulators. Create/maintain proper documentation.
  • Identify, plan and implement changes to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity and improve cycle time by reducing wasted time, rework, resulting in significant business improvement and efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance (or related field) preferred.

Experience:
  • 6+ years of related accounting or financial reporting experience (A relevant bachelor's degree may substitute for 2 years of work experience.)


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
