In recognition of the additional requirements of a newly employed Dentist, this job description outlines specific tasks and duties that require specific focus for a new provider. La Clinica's mission is to provide quality medical, dental, and social services to the diverse populations within our communities, especially those who face barriers to healthcare.
Eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000-$25,000 DOE. 50% of the bonus paid in first check, remainder paid after one year of continuous employment (figures based on a full-time position).

Qualifications:
The Dentist must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy; work productively both independently and in a team setting; communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing to groups and individuals. Provider's continued eligibility for professional liability insurance is a condition of employment. If insurance coverage is denied to the provider, such loss of insurability shall be deemed cause for immediate termination.
Education and/or Experience:
Providers must notify La Clinica within 24 hours of any change in licensure/certification status or eligibility to provide services under a federal health care program. Providers are subject to evaluation and are administratively supported by the Chief Operations Officer.

Must have the ability to communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing; read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, regulations, policies, and procedure manuals; and create professional business documents. Preferred bilingual English/Spanish with the ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Accountabilities Include:
Performs Essential Job Duties
- Examines, diagnoses, prevents and treats problems with teeth or mouth tissue.
- Collects and records information about patient's dental/medical history.
- Provides dental services to patients including, but not limited to preventive (exams including radiographs, sealants, fluoride), Urgent/emergent care, periodontal treatment, operative (fillings), oral surgery (extractions), and prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, dentures).
- Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and mouth.
- Administer anesthetics and writes prescriptions as determined to be clinically necessary.
- Educates patient regarding oral disease, oral hygiene; providing instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care.
- Works with members of team (reception and billing) to ensure correct information in account to ensure that billing information is current.
- Refers patients to dental specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well- being.
- Maintains dental records (chart notes) and participates in Continuous Quality Insurance Programs (example: chart audits).
- Provides emergency services to patients when necessary and in accordance with La Clinica's policies and procedures and generally accepted standards of care. All clinical services shall be provided in accordance with La Clinica's Scope of Project for purposes of coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
- Sees patients at primary clinic and other sites as assigned by La Clinica.
- Completes and maintains all privileging/credentialing requirements and standards established by La Clinica.
- Continues dental education as necessary to meet requirements of licensure by the State of Oregon Board of Dentistry and to maintain competency in the practice of Dentistry.
- Participates in non-clinical duties as requested such as but not limited to: meetings, peer review, quality improvement activities, and dental care-related policy/procedure/protocol development.
- Adheres to the ethical standards imposed or prescribed by the American Dental Association, and the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
- Teledentistry
- Responds to the recommendations for new or modified approaches to patient treatment recommended by peer review and utilization review processes.
- May be asked to provide services at school-based sites, health fairs, migrant camps, and homeless outreach periodically.
- Able to participate in a preceptor role for students while following the prescribed policies and procedures.
- Will be responsible for the clinical supervision of assigned Dental Assistants.
- Completes respiratory fit testing and correctly utilizes designated respirator and appropriate PPE when present during aerosol generating procedures.
- Complies with all contractual requirements regarding credentialing, utilization management, quality assurance, grievance procedures, provider directory listings, and any other policies and procedures that such contracts may require.
- Cooperates with any and all of La Clinica's quality assurance and utilization review protocols.
- Completes assigned trainings via La Clinica's learning module system (Relias) by required due date.
- With operational support, build a patient panel
- As part of building a patient panel, onboard a significant number of new comprehensive patients including the clinical evaluations and diagnoses necessary.
- Demonstrate clinical quality, collaboration, and the ability to meet job description during probationary period (6 months).
- Complete 6-month probationary review and meet criteria to move to next job description.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required:
- Minimum: Completion of Dentist Degree program such as DMD or DDS.
- Professional clinical experience in Dentistry including adult and pediatric, acute and chronic care, as well as needed emergency care.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise and positive outcomes in difficult interactions.
- Skilled at using electronic health records as applicable to area of work (EagleSoft, EPIC Wisdom.)
- Current Oregon Dental license in good standing.
- Current DEA licensure.
- BLS HealthCare Provider (First Aid/CPR) Preferred:
- Experience with diverse communities and low-income children and families; migrant/community health.
