We are looking for an Assistant Plant Manager with excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, decision-making, time management, and problem-solving skills. What you will do:
  • Provide expertise in the repair, maintenance, installation, and enhancement of machinery and equipment while ensuring that equipment capacity is maximized
  • Troubleshoot to diagnose problems, repairs, and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure equipment is in a safe and working condition and utilize the Lock-Out Tag-Out program
  • Plan, organize, and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations to attain the most effective return on assets
  • Assist in plans and processes, which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of labor, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital
  • Collaborates with the operations team to ensure workflow and plant layout is efficient
  • Facilitate and assist with the implementation of manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility sets the standard in excellence for service and quality
  • Establish team and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem-solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis
  • Encourage the use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem-solving
  • Leads safety committee and initiatives by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes
  • Foster a continual learning environment whereby employees maintain essential skills and are challenged to learn the latest in techniques and processes
  • Responsible for training all plant employees regularly to ensure appropriate knowledge of employee skills and behaviors to assist in conducting adequate performance appraisals
  • Works with the Plant Manager and Human Resources to ensure consistent and fair disciplinary actions and clearly communication expectations
  • Fill in where required on the production line, operating the forklift, or driving the delivery truck
  • Supports and complies with all company policies and safety requirements
  • Provides important key metrics, data points, and financial information to support plant financial reporting requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned


What you need to succeed:
  • 3-5 years of experience managing manufacturing plants in packaging/technology industry
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a balance of education and experience
  • Mechanically inclined with experience troubleshooting technical equipment
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles and practices required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs required
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Fork truck experience and prior certification
