Job Summary:
The Director of the Outpatient Department is responsible for the overall functioning of the services including the Intensive Outpatient Program. The Program Director's responsibilities include the development and implementation of high-quality outpatient treatment programs, the overall management of the outpatient continuum inclusive of program staff productivity, fiscal evaluation of any new outpatient services, and supervision of assigned clinical staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the behavioral health outpatient program. Assures that the department is appropriately staffed to meet the operational needs of our population.
Assists in hiring, developing, and retaining high quality staff.
Communicates needs of patients; including evaluation of additional outpatient services otherwise not provided.
Facilitates community resource availability based on patient needs
Facilitates referrals to outside sources for services as needed
Evaluates, facilitates and monitors services and patients progress in relationship to established goals and objectives of treatment plan.
Provides assistance in addressing issues related to access, triage, scheduling, referral disciplinary action, and/or staff coverage.
Works collaboratively with administrative and physician leadership to establish policies and procedures where necessary.
Provides consultation and advisement of operational staff on clinical best practices. Assures that clinical services are adequate, appropriate, accessible, and evidence based. Ensures staff are adequately trained on evidence-based practices.
Remains knowledgeable on all guidelines and requirements that regulate the provision of outpatient services.
Assists in submission or reports and requests for documents from regulatory agencies.
Maintains compliance with hospital, state and federal confidentiality laws.
Maintains a professional code of conduct as established by the hospital.
Responds to requests for general information about the Program's treatment program and provides information about appropriate topic, in response to community requests. Informs Program Director of any potential adverse publicity.
Assists in planning, overseeing, and implementing marketing efforts to support behavioral health services.
Conducts individual, family, and group assessments, as needed. Works with clients, families, support services, and collateral agencies to meet the client's immediate needs.
Attends unit and hospital meetings as directed. Meets with department staff and documents meeting content.
Appropriately represents behavioral health services at public and private outreach events. Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with referral sources and partners within and outside of the organization.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of services provided and completes chart audits to ensure compliance.
Manages or delegates management of payroll, bi-weekly, for all staff employed by the departments.
Promotes a supportive team environment that represents the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Oversight of satellite outpatient services with affiliated providers.
Serves as a subject matter expert for the Illinois Department of Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Code.
Supervises and ensures personnel follow through with voluntary or involuntary hospitalization admissions
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
A Master's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field is preferred
A licensure for LCPC or LCSW is required.
Conssideration to candidates that possess of a IL clinical licensure within (60)days of hire date.
Experience
Minimum three years of experience in a similar position and/or industry required.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
State certification/license in area of professional degree
CPR certification
Crisis Intervention and Prevention Training
Skills and Abilities
Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation
Proficient in applicable software applications, including Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to read and comprehend moderate to complex instructions and correspondence
Ability to write detailed correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and their families, Program leadership, employees, clients, providers, vendors, etc.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Above average organizational skills
Proficient in mathematical and analytical skills as they apply to duties.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Comfortable working in confined or crowded areas
Comfortable working alone or in a team environment
