Role

The CCG IT Support Engineers play a crucial role in providing essential systems and integration services for CCG's infrastructure. They are responsible for maintaining and configuring systems, implementing security controls, and offering operational support to CCG employees. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with other team members to enhance and support CCG systems and services, while also taking a leading role in assigned technical areas.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Windows OS Support:
    • Utilize Event Viewer to view logs on Windows for troubleshooting and monitoring.
    • Manage and monitor security logs on Windows systems using Event Viewer.
    • Configure Windows machine IP addresses through Control Panel settings.
    • Join Windows machines to a domain, ensuring seamless integration with our network.
  • Hardware Management:
    • Manage both internal and external hardware connected to Windows devices.
    • Use Device Manager to control hardware components and resolve issues.
  • Command Line Proficiency:
    • Comfortably use the Windows command prompt (cmd) and PowerShell for system administration tasks.
  • Active Directory Expertise:
    • Demonstrate familiarity with Active Directory.
    • Efficiently create new users and groups within Active Directory.
    • Follow best practices for deleting or disabling users in Active Directory.
  • Linux Knowledge:
    • List familiarity with various Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian).
    • Execute common Linux commands, including directory navigation, file copying and moving, and text editing using preferred terminal text editors (e.g., vi, vim, nano).
    • Understand Linux file permissions and locate system logs in the /var/log directory.
  • Networking Understanding:
    • Define DNS (Domain Name Service) and its role in internet communication.
    • Explain the concept of IP addresses and their uniqueness in identifying network devices.
    • Clarify the purpose of MAC addresses and their uniqueness on individual devices.
    • Describe DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and how it assigns IP addresses.
    • List and briefly explain the seven layers of the OSI Model.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a mid-level IT support role or a related position.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with networking principles, including DNS, IP addressing, and MAC addressing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Proficiency in command-line tools, including Windows cmd and PowerShell.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell scripting).
  • Experience with IT service management tools and ticketing systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
