Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Jobseekers should be equally familiar with divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, division of assets and debts, domestic violence and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Responsibilities
Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action
Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
Keep client files properly organized and up to date
Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed
Qualifications
4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary
Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association)
Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
