Job Summary:
The Center for Alternative Sentencing & Employment Services (CASES) is currently seeking a Senior Director of Development for a full-time position on our Mission Advancement team. CASES provides comprehensive, persistent, and compassionate services-including proven alternatives to incarceration and nationally recognized mental health treatment-to help people get free of the criminal legal system and build better lives. From offices in Central Harlem, Downtown Brooklyn, the South Bronx, and Southeast Queens, CASES programs annually serve nearly 10,000 people.
The Senior Director of Development is an experienced and creative fundraiser passionate about CASES' mission. The Senior Director of Development will support all aspects of our fundraising efforts. The Senior Director will have direct experience in building an impactful, high-functioning fundraising program that generates a balanced mix of private and public revenue from a diverse array of institutional and individual supporters.
The Senior Director of Development will join the five-person Mission Advancement team, working closely with the Senior Director of Communications, Senior Associate of Government and Community Partnerships, and Development and Communication Associate. The Senior Director of Development will also join CASES 16-member Senior Leadership Team, a diverse, multidisciplinary team of leaders engaged with CASES executives in developing solutions to key organizational challenges and in advancing multi-year, anti-racism organizational transformation.
Salary: The salary range for the Senior Director of Development is $115,000 - $125,000 per year.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time working Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What you will be doing:
- In collaboration with the Chief Officer of Mission Advancement, designing and leading implementation of an annual, comprehensive Fund Development Plan, including a clear, measurable strategy for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding institutional and individual supporters.
- Identifying fundraising opportunities, maintaining and growing active pipelines, and managing communications with existing and potential donors including through researching, identifying, evaluating, and cultivating prospects aligned with CASES priorities
- Utilizing fundraising data and analytics to target team resources and outreach; making informed strategic decisions; evaluating proposal, event, and campaign effectiveness; and identifying areas for improvement.
- Growing annual revenue from individual donors through relationship-based fundraising and strategic moves management, with an emphasis on long-term stewardship and engagements.
- Overseeing the creation of compelling fundraising material including written proposals, case statements, and impact reports that resonate with various donor audiences.
- Serving as a primary fundraiser along with CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Mission Advancement team, building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
- In collaboration with the Senior Director of Communications, supporting brand management, including in the design and production of marketing, promotional, and outreach materials for fundraising campaigns and events.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree with proven track record of at least 7 years of progressive fundraising responsibility and success, with demonstrable results across multiple funding streams and donor types, including major gifts.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles, strategies, and trends in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong, demonstrable proposal writing experience required, including the ability to distill complex topics into clear, compelling storytelling.
- Multiyear experience with donor databases, Salesforce preferred, including experience in establishing and institutionalizing donor database best practices.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, challenging, continuously changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and steward supporter relationships.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments in a professional and respectful manner, including coworkers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite experience essential.
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally.
- May require occasional work outside established working hours, including evenings.
- Work in an office environment that is well-lit and well-ventilated.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds at times, and occasionally reach and bend.
Additional, preferred skills we are looking for but are not required:
- Demonstrable experience building individual and/or corporate donor programs a strong preference.
- Demonstrated interest in integrating automation/AI or other similar innovations in fundraising activities and processes a plus.
