ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Post University Director of Title IX and Disability Services will oversee and direct the University's Title IX and Disability Services programs for students. The Director of Title IX and Disability Services will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of the University's comprehensive programs and activities to ensure compliance with University policies and state and federal laws related to gender-based sexual misconduct; will also be responsible for leading the University's efforts and collaborating with departments across the University to provide main campus and online students seeking disability accommodations with the resources they need to achieve their academic goals. This hands-on position, based in Waterbury, CT, is not a remote opportunity.

CORE ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates acceptance and complete understanding of Post's core values and non-negotiable behaviors and models these distinctive standards in all interactions.
  • Leads operation of all the University's Title IX matters, including Title IX investigations, case management, training and compliance programs on Title IX matters, VAWA, and the Clery Act
  • Collaborates with and trains campus partners across various Post departments to ensure the campus climate and environment is an inclusive and safe living, learning, and working environment for faculty, staff, and students
  • Identify and integrate best practices in Title IX investigations and models into the university knowledge base and practices
  • Manage and update the University's Gender-Based Misconduct policy
  • Be available on call when needed for Title IX response
  • Direct the University's disability accommodations programs to creatively assist students with requests for reasonable accommodations under the ADA
  • Responsible for University educational events related to Title IX and disabilities - both virtual and on-campus
  • Provides exceptional experiences when responding to general inquiries from students, Associate Faculty, Academic Program Chairs, and other Post University staff regarding accommodations and services for students with a documented disability
  • Process and review requests submitted by students to ensure supporting documentation is compliant with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Send letters of approval or denial of accommodation requests to faculty and support them in providing accommodations to students
  • Explore emerging trends and expanding resources available to students in all modalities
  • Work with Instructional Design in developing resources for both faculty and students in building awareness and support for students with a disability and ensuring compliance with the learning management system
  • Schedule and assist with training sessions on current trends in accommodations and disability services in higher education
  • Develop workshops to promote awareness of disability services to students
  • Work with Facilities to ensure buildings and grounds are accessible and ADA-compliant
  • Maintain and expand job knowledge to proactively keep abreast of changing regulations/statutes related to University business
  • Perform research, draft and develop resource material, and perform educational outreach within the institution on department-related legal and regulatory issues
  • Work in collaboration with associates throughout the University.
  • Completes and maintains resulting documentation in a compliant manner and makes meaningful recommendations.
  • Maintains updated subject matter expertise and self-pursues relevant new learning opportunities, related competitor information, etc.
  • Completes related reports and presentations as required to various parties, whether internal or external.
  • Helps to establish and analyze related metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's-level or Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
  • Substantial knowledge of Title IX and the ADA / Section 504 and other relevant laws/trends in higher education
  • Experience with Title IX and/or disability accommodations case management
  • Must be fluent on laws, regulations, best practices and policies related to discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy and disability
  • Familiarity with various areas of law in higher education such as FERPA
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and excellent analysis skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • A willingness to work collaboratively within a highly consultative campus culture
  • The ability to communicate effectively, and to diagnose, clarify and mediate differences of opinion
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and a reputation for the highest integrity, ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately in time-sensitive and crisis situations
  • Demonstrated experience in making presentations and facilitating discussions
  • Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex caseload of complaints, while meeting established deadlines
  • Strong organizational/interpersonal/communication skills and ability to multi-task to make efficient, thorough decisions
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in rules and regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with associates at all levels of the University.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high-volume environment with interruptions
  • Must have excellent PC skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet applications and database software
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience in executing above accountabilities.
