The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill three Deputy Warden positions . These positions are based out of Dodge Correctional Institution, Waupun, WI; Oshkosh Correctional Institution, Oshkosh, WI; New Lisbon Correctional Institution, New Lisbon, WI

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Warden, this position will help develop, implement and administer the security, treatment and support services. This position will have primary responsibility for administration of institution programs including security, social services, treatment, offender records, admission and intake processes. This position will provide appropriate information to agencies, the legislature and the public on matters pertaining to the institution. This position assumes the duties of the Warden as assigned.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-01 with an annual salary of $72238 - $120910, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A two year career executive trial period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
  • Working in a supervisory role (e.g., reviewing work of others, training/orienting new employees, assigning work of others, establishing operating procedures, etc.)
  • Working in a security or correctional setting
  • Conducting investigations (e.g. personnel, PREA, workplace incident).

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with:
  • Developing, implementing or administrating management services, (e.g., budget, program planning, reviewing and approving building and grounds programs, etc.)
  • Developing and implementing of facility programs (e.g. Health Services, Treatment, Education, Security, etc.)
