Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Manager, IT to join our growing IT team. As the Manager, IT you will work closely with senior architects and technical teams to design and implement IT solutions that align with our organization's business goals. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT architecture while contributing to the success of our IT projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with senior business leaders and technical teams to understand business requirements and contribute to the core design and infrastructure architecture of all technology solutions.
  • Assist in creating architectural roadmaps, diagrams, and documentation to effectively communicate design decisions and system configurations.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of hardware, software, and cloud services to support IT initiatives.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IT systems and applications.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to contribute innovative ideas and insights to ongoing IT projects and ensuring the company stays relevant within the industry.
  • Collaborate within the IT teams including Information Security engineers to implement security measures and data protection strategies to safeguard the company's critical information and intellectual property.
  • Assist in conducting performance and capacity assessments to ensure the scalability and reliability of IT systems throughout the enterprise.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related and equivalent professional experience.
  • Passion for technology and architecture within the IT field.
  • Familiarity with IT concepts, including networking, operating systems, databases, and cloud computing.
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, and networking.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming and/or scripting languages is a plus (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and maintain a continual improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or macOS, including system administration, file management, and basic command-line operations.
  • Networking Concepts: Understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, routing, and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.).
  • Hardware Fundamentals: Understanding of computer hardware components, including CPUs, RAM, storage devices, and peripherals.
  • Virtualization: Understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V, including virtual machine deployment and management.
  • Cloud Computing: Basic knowledge of cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and an understanding of cloud services such as storage, compute, and networking.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, both hardware and software-related, and provide effective solutions.
  • Documentation and Communication: Strong documentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Databases: Familiarity with relational database concepts and SQL querying. Knowledge of common database management systems like MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring tools like ScienceLogic, SolarWinds, Thousand Eyes, Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus, and basic logging solutions such as SysLog and technology stacks like ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • IT Security: Awareness of information security best practices, including data encryption, access controls, and vulnerability assessment.
  • Scripting and Automation: Experience with scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, PERL, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks and processes.
  • IT Service Management (ITSM): Basic knowledge of ITSM frameworks such as ITIL, including incident management, change management, and service request processes.
  • Web Technologies: Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and an understanding of web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx).
  • Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems like Git to manage and collaborate on code repositories.
  • Certifications in relevant IT domains (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals) are advantageous and a bonus but not mandatory.
