QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred OSBA Masters of Transportation Administration or NAPT Transportation Director Certification strongly preferred Five years of experience in transportation required Must be familiar with OAC, ORC, and funding SEPS formula for pupil transportation Must be familiar with the ELDT (entry-level driver training) curriculum. Must have knowledge of school bus construction standards, and the Ohio rulemaking process Valid CDL license required And/or any additional qualifications, training, or other credentials, as determined by the Board of Education Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a professional attitude Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions Demonstrates professional tact and diplomacy with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the diverse community Demonstrate conscientiousness and responsibility for one's own work.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month, 260-day contract with salary as established by the Board in terms of the Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Administrative Personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To lead, manage, and oversee the district's daily and future transportation department and related systems.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors the performance of the district's school bus transportation system and develops recommendations for improvement, efficiencies, and cost containment
- Ensure district compliance with audits and all aspects of adherence to the rules and regulations set forth by the WCS Board of Education, ODOT, and USDOT
- Monitors student transportation eligibility and arranges alternate transportation services where appropriate
- Audit and approve invoices for payment
- Interacts with staff, board members, state/local officials, and citizens on transportation matters
- Provides data and reports as requested
- Provide professional learning opportunities and evaluate all transportation staff.
- Represents the school district in community matters as assigned
- Assembles, approves, and submits all required district, state and/or federal student transportation reports and supporting documents as needed
- Develops specifications, RFP's, bid documents, etc. for student transportation related purchases including the purchase of service contracts, and recommended awarding of such contracts
- Oversees van driver training program and provides staff instruction as needed.
- Updates ODE website and monitors driver compliance as appropriate
- Assists the Treasurer's Office with financial planning including revenue and cost projections.
- Maintains budget controls and manages transaction processing functions.
- Monitors budget for variances
- Develops and/or provides amendment recommendations for Board of Education policies as needed
- Prices and orders vehicle fuel as needed
- Coleads and/or assists with feasibility and cost studies, redistricting proposals, FCC radio licensing and traffic flow studies
- Establishes, regularly monitors, and updates the district's routing system
- Looks at ways to monitor camera efficiency on buses
- Handles student discipline issues on school transportation
- Helps district maintain boundary and routing maps
- Maintains a working knowledge of routing software, GPS systems, community information programs, bus stop applications, bus trip scheduling software, and boundary mapping
- Plan, implement, and stay current on emerging transporation-related technologies.
- Provides district transportation as a driver as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs.
- Frequent evening and/or weekend work.
