DESCRIPTION

Otterbein University is seeking an Associate Director of Institutional Research. Under general direction, this role develops, manages, and coordinates Institutional Research operations. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Provost for Institutional Research and University Registrar.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Accountabilities

  • Compile and analyze information from Banner student information system, surveys and other digital platforms.


  • Communicate the results of the analysis to various stakeholders using narratives, data tables and visualizations.


  • Provide prompt and accurate reporting of institutional data to Otterbein internal constituencies and external constituencies.


  • Determine data requirements and generate responses for compliance reporting to the federal and state government (e.g., IPEDS, NC-SARA, etc.) and accreditation bodies (e.g., HLC, etc.).


  • As a backup IPEDS Key Holder, the Associate Director will be responsible for ensuring that regulatory survey collections are completed promptly by coordinating the collection and reporting of accurate data from appropriate university units.


  • Participate in professional conferences and other learning opportunities for the continuous development of Institutional Research skills.


  • Serves on internal committees, as directed.


  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.


  • 4+ years of experience in Institutional Research or related field.


  • Proficiency in writing, maintaining and troubleshooting SQL queries.


  • Experience working with large datasets.


  • Proficiency with Banner student information system.


  • Experience reporting data to IPEDS, US News, College Board and other external entities.


  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently, demonstrate initiative; capable of prioritizing and managing own workload and work with minimum supervision - demonstrating accountability.


  • Adherence to data privacy and security procedures.


  • Knowledge of FERPA legislation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.


  • Experience managing program review and assessment data collection, reporting, and archival.


  • Proficiency with Qualtrics online survey software.


TECHNICAL SKILLS: Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher including the ability to create and store documents, create and utilize mail merge documents, print labels, create spreadsheets using formulas, develop Power Point presentations and Publisher brochures. Strong computer skills with the ability to search internet to access online information from other institutions and agencies. Some knowledge of the Banner Student Information System
