NFI Controller

SUMMARY

The Controller will oversee the accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the effective implementation of financial controls. The role involves managing the accounting team, coordinating audits, and providing strategic financial insights to the CFO and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial data and present financial reports to senior management.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Collaborate with the CFO to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, explaining variances.
• Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Team Management:
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support.
• Implement professional development plans.
• Accounts Management:
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Manage cash flow and banking relationships.
• Strategic Planning:
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing financial systems and software to improve efficiency.
• Special Projects:
• Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by the CFO.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directly supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger staff.
• Provide training and mentorship.
• Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification (preferred).
• MBA or advanced degree in finance or accounting (preferred).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• A strong understanding of financial concepts and proficient in analytical skills
• Financial mathematics, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Financial ratios, percentages, and basic statistical analysis.
